Second verse, same as the first

Well.

So much for daycare. Nora made it very, very plain that this particular scenario was NOT working. Added to some red flags that were both witnessed and intuited by mama, and new work hours for dada that make the drop-off time impossible ... so long, little daycare friends. So long, perma-snot! We're hoping the naps come back and the runny nose finally stops, by sticking closer to home for now. There are some other good "little schools" nearby that we're crossing our fingers for, but it'll be awhile.

So, Nora is happily ensconced with her very generous and flexible Nonna while we toil our way up The Daycare Waitlists. We're more grateful than ever before that we have family nearby - we saw so many parents without any other options at all. We won't go on and on about the very real child care crisis in this supposedly advanced and privileged country of ours, but man ... this is complex, enfuriating stuff, and our little family is more fortunate than many.

We were all a little tired this weekend, but there were good things. 1) We discovered that Nora loves chicken enchiladas verde. 2) We went to a party to celebrate the pending arrival of Nora's cousin, Lil Dude. 3) The morning light is beautiful this time of year. Even when you're wearing your tired, vaguely wounded, post-daycare face.
