Phoneme Rainbow

Last fall, we found this vintage Fisher Price magnetic chalkboard "desk" with the complete set of letters and word stencil cards (score!). The chalkboard was a big hit from the get-go, but recently Nora's gotten a kick out of filling in the stencils with the letter magnets. It's amazing to watch this small person (who was just a cloudy-eyed infant two minutes ago!) hunt through the alphabet rainbow on her floor and find what she's looking for.

She also loves arranging things in rows (witness, the recent "sam-ploo-play" creation). After filling in the "sun" card, she asked Mama to spell "shine" -- and then proceeded to line up the rest of the letters behind it. Finally, she asked Mama to "read it." So we did, and giggled at the nonsense of "shinepztmubjnc ...".
